Golden Jubilee Celebration
"Come near, my children...
do not be afraid. . ."
Rev. Fr. Joel F. dela Cruz, MS
The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee this coming September 19, 2018 with the theme "JOURNEY OF GRATITUDE - JOURNEY IN HOPE." The Novena mass is held every 5:00 PM starting September 10 with a Solemn Procession on September 18 after the of Novena Mass.
50 years ago when the late Fr. FredJulien, MS, the founder of the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, envisioned of coming back to the Philippines to build a shrine in honor of Our Lady of La Salette, a sign of his gratitude after surviving World War II at Los Baños, Laguna where he was incarcerated as a prisoner of war in the Philippines. That vision did not remain a dream, it became a promise, it was kept and fulfilled.
50 years after, the Shrine has been a place of encounter with the Lord's love through the loving arms of Our Mother Mary. A place of silence where stillness leads us to a deeper encounter with God for "in the silence of our heart the Lord speaks" (Psalm 27:8).
Our Lady's invitation "Come near, My children, do not be afraid" is an invitation directed to all, no if's and but's regardless of our faith community for we are all children of our loving Mother Mary at L Salette. May our devotion to her leads us more closely to her Son Jesus and that woulf give us strength and insipiration to repond faithfully to her invitation, "Make this known to all my people."
